The achievements of Maureen FitzSimons as a child performer in America (which we refer to as Maureen O'Hara today) would certainly put her in the child-prodigy class. But for a young Irish girl with talented parents and extended family, these qualities were naturally. Maureen was born in Ranelagh which was a suburb in Dublin - Ireland on 17 August 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons was a talented contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish Shamrock Rovers, a soccer club in Ireland. Maureen FitzSimons is the second daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen loved playing rough sports when she was an infant and was extremely adept at them. Her natural interest and her talent in performing was astonishing. This is why she received almost all of the Feis Awards for her dramatic and acting performances within her own country. When she turned 14, she was accepted into the world-renowned Abbey Theater and pursued her dreams of classical theatre and operatic singing.
